Dansco Album #8180- Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 with Proof
Dansco Coin Albums have been a longtime companion for both expert numismatists and beginning coin collectors. The Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 with Proof Dansco Album comes in a 5/8" binder and holds up to 18 coins. The album has 2 Dansco pages (series: 8180-1 to 8180-2), each one holding and displaying all Susan B. Anthony dollars minted from 1979-1999 including the proof coins. Women's right advocate Susan B. Anthony appeared on the obverse of the new dollars in 1979. No other woman's portrait (not imagined or mythical) had ever been struck on any U.S. coin. From 1981-1998 the U.S. Mint stopped issuing these dollars. One of the reasons the coins were never popular was due to their reduced size. From 1840-1978 all dollars measured 38.1 mm, while the new Susan B. Anthony coin measured 26.5 mm, only two millimeters bigger than the popular quarters. Susan B. Anthony dollars have a pure copper inner core and an outer layer made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, each weighs 8.1 grams. Susan B. Anthony dollars were coined at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints. Dansco Coin Albums have their pages attached with metal screws, making it easy to add and replace.
